Fire Protection Designer

Position: Fire Protection Designer Location: Kansas City, MO Job Id: 5734 # of Openings: 1 As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Fire Protection Designer will be responsible for developing fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects. Specifically, this responsibility will include a variety of projects related to leading the planning, design, and commissioning of:Building fire protection systemsBuilding fire suppression systemsBuilding fire alarm systemsAdditionally,In addition, this role will include coordination with other support disciplines, and coordination with regional offices. Assisting fire protection engineers in the design of building projects. Following quality assurance and quality control plans. Abilities and attributes needed for this position:Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principlesInterfacing with project teams on project design, delivery, and construction.Managing project budget and schedule compliance.Fire protection design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase.Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawingsUtilize software based calculation tools for design calculationsManage multiple assignments concurrentlyBe responsible for time management and product qualityFollow Quality Assurance and Quality Control PlansBe responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team.Requirements5-10 years of building fire protection design and construction experienceMust have a knowledge base of fire protection engineering principals related to building fire protection designsProven experience with fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projectsMust have strong communication and team collaboration skillsExperience with Autodesk RevitMust be proficient with MS Office SuitePreferred SkillsNICET certification in Fire ProtectionExperience with AIA MasterSpecKnowledge of Federal Agencies design criteriaGrow With UsGarver offers its employees programs such as company-paid professional memberships, company support for industry licenses and continuing education opportunities that foster a progressive atmosphere.
