FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST

Work You Will Do The primary function of the Fire Protection Specialist is to provide life safety inspection expertise for the licensure and certification of health care facilities. Responsibilities include performing on‑site surveys, documenting findings, preparing reports, and providing independent expertise on fire safety, fire prevention, and other aspects of life safety. The incumbent may serve as a team leader, member, or individual contributor. Duties also encompass understanding and enforcing national, state, and local fire safety NFPA codes and laws, and possibly conducting surveys of other licensed providers as assigned. Proficiency with computer equipment, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and smart‑phone technology is required, and the incumbent must be available for work before and after normal hours, including weekends and holidays. Successful completion of all CMS QSEP Life Safety training within six months of hire is mandatory. Mission‑essential personnel may be called to work during disasters, holidays, and other emergencies, potentially in other counties or staffing locations. Minimum Qualifications Requirements Fire Safety Inspector I Certification pursuant to Chapter 633.261, F.S. and Chapter 69A‑39, F.A.C.; two (2) years of professional or paraprofessional experience in fire prevention, fire protection system installations, or other construction inspection related experience; preference for candidates with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; requirement to complete Basic Life Safety training within six months of hire. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements Fire Safety Inspector I Certificate of Compliance in accordance with Chapter 633.261, F.S. and Chapter 69A‑39, F.A.C.
