Dialysis Charge Nurse

 

We are seeking an energetic, dedicated person to fill a Charge Nurse position at our dialysis clinic in Soldotna, Alaska.

The primary responsibilities of this position are: Is responsible for all aspects of patient care, either directly or through delegation, including, but not limited to: new patient admissions; patient transfers and discharges; nursing assessments, (both initial and pre/post each treatment), monthly nurses notes that are reflective of the patient’s Plan of Care; initiation, monitoring and terminating dialysis, per Policy and Physician Orders. Completes daily rounds on all patients to ensure their needs are met; to solicit, identify and correct patient grievances and to ensure that staff is delivering physician prescriptions to all patients. Uses rounding opportunities to mentor nurses and dialysis technicians in clinical management of the dialysis patient.Either directly or indirectly develops a plan of care to ensure each patient achieves the desired clinical outcomes. Either directly or indirectly ensures each new patient is assessed by the multi-disciplinary team consistent with facility policy.Reviews the data collected by the dialysis technicians and the ensures the registered nurse assesses each patient pre and post dialysis and the patient is provided a treatment appropriate to meet their individualized Plan of Care.Either directly or indirectly completes the medical record documentation and ensures it is complete and reflects changes in patients’ condition and discrepancies between what is ordered and what is delivered.Educates patients so they can be an active participant in their own care.Participates in and assists medical staff with patient rounds.Communicates immediate patient needs to the medical staff in an organized fashion including information identified during the nursing assessment and important historical information.Works closely with and routinely communicates concerns about both patients and staff with the Clinical Manager and/or Medical Director, (if appropriate).Ensures that all staff maintain the integrity, security and privacy of the medical record always. Ensures that staff acts consistent with the Fresenius Kidney Care HIPAA and Compliance policies ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.Performs additional duties as assigned by the FA or CM.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Current Alaska RN licenseCurrent CPR certificationMinimum 1 year in clinical nursing; additional 6 months of experience providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis (for Charge Nurse role).ICU experience preferred but not requiredDemonstrated leadership abilityGood communication skills – verbal and writtenAbility to organize with multiple interruptions/distractionsWorking knowledge of MS Office
