Location Fredericksburg, VA Division Road Transport, US Job Posting Title Driver, Local Shuttle (Class CDL- A) Time Type Full Time Summary The local shuttle driver will be responsible for executing local deliveries within a 50‑mile radius with a 26‑ft box truck with the utmost care, professionalism, and accuracy. Benefits of Driving With DSV Local drivers start at $23.00 – $26.00 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight shifts (based on experience) Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance (eligible on the first of the month following 30 days of employment) Company‑paid short‑term and long‑term disability and life insurance 401K plan with up to 5% company match Generous PTO package – including vacation, sick time, birthday holiday, 3 floating holidays, and 6 paid holidays a year Bi‑weekly pay with Daily Pay options $1,000 Referral Bonus Program Cell phone allowance Paid orientation including transportation, lodging, and meals Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate 26‑ft box truck safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and the Department of Transportation regulations Accurately and efficiently load and unload cargo, often using a manual or powered pallet jack Back trucks to customer dock Maintain compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior Communicate with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers Comply with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable‑suspicion drug and alcohol testing) Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle Ensure that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving Perform other duties as required Qualifications & Work Experience CDL A License required A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years; 3+ years preferred Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41 Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care Detail‑oriented mindset required Must have a TWIC or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days, if required Physical Demands Frequently carry, push, or pull freight weighing 1–125 pounds Lifts up to 50 pounds Frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height and below waist level Shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals, not applicable on all trucks Frequently squat or crouch to handle and position freight Climb in and out of the truck 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing Conduct pre‑trip inspection Fuel vehicles and check engine oil/coolant levels, perform preventative maintenance Must be able to spend at least 5% of day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood, metal and concrete; surface may sometimes be slippery or wet Must be able to reach above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck Work Environment While performing the duties of a driver, the employee may be exposed to diesel fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally harsh weather conditions while loading or unloading. The work environment includes time spent both inside the truck cab— involving extended periods of sitting and exposure to engine noise and vibration—and outside at customer sites, terminals, or on public roadways. Noise levels can vary from quiet inside the cab to moderate or loud at delivery or pickup locations. Compensation Expected base pay: $23.00 – $26.00 per hour plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight shifts. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations.
