Qualifications

• Possess valid driver's license with a minimum of Learner's CDL license.
• A good driving record and the ability to drive school bus.
• Current TB test.
• Ability to read and communicate.
• Ability to follow instructions and take initiative in performance of assigned tasks.
• Physical ability to walk, stoop, stand, twist, and squat.

Supervisor of Transportation

Contracted for a total 182 days (180 school days and 2 bus driver meetings)

Essential Job Functions

1. Conduct pre-trip inspection of school bus prior to every trip for defects and post-trip inspection after every trip.
2. Use established routes and designated bus stops.
3. Operate bus on approved time schedule.
4. Report bus accidents and student injuries to authorities or as directed.
5. Conduct emergency evacuation drills in keeping with the school division regulations.
6. Instruct riders regarding being responsible passengers.
7. Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather.
8. Drive with safety of students as first priority.
9. Report personal absences in time for Supervisor to secure substitute driver.
10. Perform bus housekeeping duties inside and out.
11. Maintain proper fuel level and monitor all gauges.
12. Report bus defects to Supervisor.
13. Establish favorable working relationships with all other personnel.
14. Exhibit positive image as a representative of the school division.
15. Demonstrate knowledge of county and state vehicular laws.
16. Administer disciplinary procedures in keeping with school board policies and administrative regulations.
17. Be alert and exercise good judgment concerning emergencies, disabled vehicles, and irregular special request by parents or riders.
18. Comply with dress code.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
