Description Clinical Nurse II Per Diem needed for the Trauma & Acute Care Surgery at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. This is a per diem position requiring the ability to work at least 12 hours every two weeks and one winter and one summer holiday each year. There are no benefits associated with this position. Summary Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Responsibilities Education – Identifies and meets learning needs of self; attends education programs and uses patient education materials; assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family and caregivers. Evaluation of Care – Identifies expected patient outcomes; revises plan of care when guided; participates in interdisciplinary discussion and communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Implementation – Delivers care for patients with complex problems, performs bedside testing as required, follows organizational policies and procedures, organizes and prioritizes care, and consults with resources in time for complex cases. Leadership – Develops professional growth goals, tracks progress, facilitates collaboration, promotes cost‑effective care, provides feedback, and maintains a safe environment. Patient Assessment – Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities, synthesizes assessment data, and anticipates discharge needs; builds relationships with families to support patient advocacy. Planning – Collaborates with patients/families to prepare or update care plans, uses multidisciplinary resources, addresses cultural and ethnic issues, and prioritizes tasks for complex problems. Research – Reads applicable journals and brings ideas to staff for assessment of applicability. Qualifications and Requirements Education Requirements: Graduation from a school of professional nursing. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina; Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. Professional Experience Requirements: One (1) year of relevant and current experience.
