A centralized engineering structure in support of The Core enables a common platform model and operating framework that promotes consistent governance and scalable solutions, leveraging cloud, AI, and machine learning for innovation and efficiency. The Core Engineering’s 2,000+ engineers and strats deliver engineering, data, analytics, and quantitative capabilities within six business units: Metrics & Analytics Platforms: responsible for the measurement and management of the firm’s risk, capital, and liquidity for The Core functionsThe Core Strats: responsible for the development and implementation of models and other quantitative methodologies, including the accuracy and attribution of modeled metricsFinancials & Reporting: responsible for facilitating the production of the firm’s financials and a wide range of reporting functionsNon-Financial Risk & Controls: responsible for non-financial risk and control processesEnterprise Platforms: responsible for platforms and applications that support critical operational processes across The Core such as payments, people processes, and procurementShared Services: responsible for driving the adoption of consistent engineering strategy, including data platforms, cloud, and AI enablement, as well as the management of technology risk Who We Look For:This Vice President Software Engineer role is for a professional who is passionate about bringing business impact through digital transformation and deployment of scalable and reliable software solutions. The Core divisions have a large footprint of software applications to ensure the firm complies with the controls set forth in its policies and risk appetite, meet its regulatory obligations, and to protect the firm’s reputation. To meet the demand of the business, driven by the size and complexity of the entire firm, the candidate will have the mandate to continuously increase the level of automation and to modernize and consolidate our software stacks. In addition, data is at the center of what we do. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experiences in and a passion for solving critical problems related to data modelling and data curation including data quality, warehousing, and analytics.How You Will Fulfill Your Potential:Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that provides exposure to all areas of FinanceBuild strong relationships with business partnersUnderstand business needs, facilitating and developing process workflow, data requirements, and specifications required to support implementationDevelop technical specifications, high level/detailed design, testing strategies, and implementation plans from business requirementsManage end-to-end systems development cycle from requirements analysis, coding, testing, UAT and maintenanceExploring new and emerging technologies as needed by the projectRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline8+ years of relevant experience in software development, including a clear understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, core programming concepts and experiences with continuous delivery and deploymentA strong problem solver who is organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a delivery/customer-focused global teamA strong communicator – both written and verbal – who is comfortable engaging stakeholders on functional requirementsStrong programming experience in at least one language (e.g. Java, Python, C++)Knowledge of relational and columnar SQL databases, including database designHands-on development experience in delivering data solutions (ETL/ELT, domain modeling)Preferred Qualifications:Experience in delivering solutions built on cloud-based, large-scale data analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, Amazon EMR, Amazon Athena for Apache Spark, AWS Glue, dbt)Experience as a direct manager of a team of software engineers and related job functionsExperience working in the financial services domain delivering software to front-office users or Controllers/Finance/Accounting teamsExperience working with a code-based logical data model / semantic-layer ecosystem (e.g. FINOS Legend, Cube Core, dbt Semantic Layer, LookML, Malloy)Experience working with vendor or in-house data catalog platforms (e.g. Unity Catalog, Open Catalog, Apache Polaris)
