Day Program Activities Assistant

Day Program Activity Assistant (Instructor) Assists in the implementation of clinical and individual programs, supporting daily schedules, activities, and recommended plans. Provides support to persons served in day programs and assists in case management responsibilities. Responsibilities Provides instruction and skill building in Self Help, Sensorimotor, Communication, Social Development, Independent Living, Behavioural Development, Affective Development, Vocational Development, and Wellness. Assists with case management, as directed. Provides input for interdisciplinary team reviews. Assists in developing ISPs, including recommendations from specialists, and maintains contact with family, funding source, and other team members. Implements clinical and daily plans, and recommends or implements changes for continuous program improvement. Maintains daily documentation, adheres to data collection policies, and completes progress notes per guidelines. Works individually and in groups with persons served to develop skills. Ensures members are engaged in meaningful activities throughout the day, offering choices. Communicates treatment and program updates to management. Participates in teams such as the Case Management Team. Supports members in crisis management using Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Safety Care. Assists staff training as needed. Maintains physical upkeep of the program area, monitors supplies, and ensures equipment is cleaned, stored, and used appropriately. Advocates for persons served, follows program policies, and works toward community integration. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications One year of relevant work experience or training. High school diploma or equivalent required. Driving requirement: must possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and safe driving record; employees must be at least 21 years old; license must have been held for at least six months. Physical effort: ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, lift 25 lbs, use computer equipment, assist clients with daily living tasks, meet vision requirements, and perform routine living activities such as cleaning and meal preparation.
