Job Title: Controls Technician Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician capable of interpreting PLC ladder logic and troubleshooting electrical control systems. This includes working with PLCs, robotics, servos, drives, and touch-screens from various brands, including GE and Siemens. The role requires a proactive individual ready to engage in continuous learning and development to stay abreast of new technologies.
Responsibilities- Interpret and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and electrical control systems using a laptop.
- Fabricate and wire electrical panels and terminal boxes.
- Read and update electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Operate power shop tools and common hand tools.
- Develop continuous improvement plans for more efficient and cost-effective methods.
- Perform formal root cause analysis effectively.
- Stand and/or walk for 90% of an 8-hour day, including climbing ladders or steps.
- 5 years of experience in industrial electrical controls or equivalent education.
- Working knowledge of the National Electric Code.
- Ability to operate power shop tools and common hand tools.
- Solid PC computing skills.
- Basic understanding of Ohm’s Law and related principles.
- Ability to interpret electrical and controls schematics and sketch schematics.
- Experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Strong electrical background for troubleshooting control circuits and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to navigate through software and ladder logic.
- 2-year technical degree in electronics/PLC troubleshooting (Associate's degree).
- Electrical Arc Flash Safety and Lock Out Tag Out training.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to take initiative and engage in continued growth and development.
This position is located in a large industrial manufacturing environment, over 1 million square feet. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of steel-toed shoes and safety glasses. Candidates must meet the vision and hearing requirements and pass written and practical electrical tests.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
