Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting young learners as a school-based Occupational Therapist in the vibrant community near Hyattsville, MD. This on-site position runs from August 10, 2026, through June 8, 2027, offering a consistent schedule of 35 hours per week across several elementary school settings. With four openings available, you'll be part of a dedicated team helping children from ages 3 through 5th grade thrive in an environment that values collaboration and professional growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Maryland OT or COTA license required
- Previous school-based or pediatric experience highly preferred
- Strong background in supporting students with autism, communication challenges, and behavioral needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to varying caseloads and work across multiple school sites as needed
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to elementary-aged students, with caseloads focused on academic life skills and high-level autism
- Address a range of needs including motor skills, sensory processing, communication, and behavior
- Collaborate closely with educators, families, and the established district behavior support team
- Set your own schedule, with 21 hours per week dedicated to direct student services, pending administrator approval
- Participate in and benefit from the district’s robust mentor program, designed for continued growth and support
