The Warehouse Attendant is responsible for the organization of the warehouse in preparation for the distribution of food directly to clients. This position shall organize and stock food and other items from stores, agencies, and distributors, often utilizing a hydraulic forklift. This position is responsible for keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and inventoried. In addition, the position is responsible for working with the Family Services Team to maintain organization and flow in the warehouse. This also involves working collaboratively with volunteers who help organize and distribute food. The Warehouse Attendant is responsible for driving up to and including a 16-foot box truck and utilizing a hydraulic forklift. This position shall transport food and other items to/from stores, agencies, distributors.

Properly store and inventory purchased and donated food and non-food products in warehouse.

Weigh donated food and record on spreadsheet.

Communicate in advance to Director of Social Services when a food order needs to be placed.

Keep warehouse and walk-in freezer clean and organized.

Record temperature daily on refrigerators/freezers.

Stock food bank refrigerator(s)/ freezer daily.

Restock food distribution shelves daily.

Always maintain strict confidentiality.

Supervise Volunteers/Community Service Workers in the Warehouse.

Create projects/tasks for volunteers.

Update required OSHA/MPFS postings in warehouse.

Harvest Food from the garden to utilize in Food Bank.

Drive company vehicles when needed.

Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, sometimes for long periods of time; to talk and hear; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

May walk or stand on varied surfaces. Stooping; kneeling, bending, stretching, squatting, twisting body, pushing, pulling, a sense of touch, reach, grasp with hands and fingers, standing, walking, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, driving a vehicle, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying up to 40 pounds unassisted, climbing stairs, have manual dexterity, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position.

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Various scheduled work in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Will be exposed to a range of temperatures inside and outside of the building, heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, humidity.

This position may have frequent phone and in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Work/Professional Experience: Experience in non-profit organization preferred. Food warehouse experience preferred. Minimum of one (1) year experience performing warehouse duties and light maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Required current Forklift Certification.

Required current Food Handlers Card.

Required current Driver's License.
