Job Summary Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing entry level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. Job Description What You’ll Do: This position is for the role of a Tools & Analytics Engineer within the Transmission System Operations Engineering (TSOE) organization. The role entails supporting and enhancing the tools, applications, data systems, analytics, and automation processes used to manage Transmission Facility Ratings, Configuration Management, transmission modeling, and regulatory compliance activities across the transmission system. Expected activities include, but are not limited to: Providing technical support for TSOE-owned applications, databases, reports, dashboards, and automation solutions used by Transmission Engineering, Operations, Ratings & Configuration, and Configuration Management organizations. Developing, maintaining, and enhancing software applications, scripts, APIs, reports, and integrations used to support transmission modeling, facility ratings, engineering workflows, and business processes. Creating and supporting SQL, Oracle, and other database queries to analyze engineering, operational, and compliance-related data and provide actionable information to engineering and leadership teams. Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards, performance metrics, and reporting solutions that improve visibility into Transmission operations, Configuration Management activities, FAC-008 compliance, and engineering performance. Supporting Transmission Planning System (TPS), ODMS, facility ratings processes, and related transmission modeling tools by validating data quality, identifying discrepancies, and coordinating corrective actions. Reviewing outage requests, asset changes, engineering records, and system data to identify potential impacts to transmission models, facility ratings, and systems of record. Performing root cause analysis of data quality issues, model discrepancies, reporting inaccuracies, and process failures to identify improvement opportunities and enhance data integrity. Collaborating with engineering, operations, IT, vendors, and external stakeholders to define requirements, implement enhancements, and support modernization of TSOE applications and data systems. Providing subject matter expertise related to transmission system modeling, facility ratings, MLSEs, electrical asset data, Configuration Management, and applicable NERC and industry standards. Identifying and implementing opportunities to automate manual processes, improve engineering efficiency, reduce compliance risk, and increase the accuracy and accessibility of transmission system data. Engineer Associate SG6 Education/Experience This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred. Engineer SG7 Education/Experience Has typically acquired a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET* along with two or more years of related engineering experience. Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level. Individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license. *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Acceptable alternative: Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program. **VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a Non ABET accredited program In addition: Transmission system modeling (TPS, ODMS, PSSE, bus/branch concepts) Facility Ratings and FAC-008 knowledge NERC compliance understanding SQL and Oracle database experience Power BI development Python, .NET, PowerShell, or other programming experience API and system integration experience Data analytics and business intelligence Understanding of transmission assets, stations, transmission lines, relays, and ratings methodology This role requires schedule flexibility. A P&C Field Technologist Associate is responsible for performing work associated with the programming, operation, testing and maintenance of fundamental protection and control devices and related equipment. P&C’s primary focus is understanding control circuitry and utilizing computer-based testing and analysis of devices and equipment that includes, but is not limited to, digital relays, electromechanical relays, intelligent electronic devices, Station Disturbance Recorders (SDR), Digital Fault Recorders (DFR), system event recorders, Remote Terminal Units (RTU’s) and station SCADA systems (dispatcher remote control systems), statistical load metering, telemetering and potential/current transducers. Additionally, will maintain and operate all power line carriers (PLC), tone, pilot wire, fiber and associated P&C communications over the power grid network. Within the discipline of P&C, will occasionally respond to emergency callouts at electrical substations and coordinate prompt restoration of service to customers as required.
