PACKAGING SALES SPECIALIST

Dayton or Columbus, Ohio · Outside Sales · Established Territory

A territory seat for someone who can hunt and manage. Packaging background is welcome. Adjacent industrial sales is welcome.

The work

You would own a defined territory based out of the Dayton or Columbus area. The role is new-business development and account management for end-of-line packaging: consumables, equipment, and the service that keeps both running. You sell on total cost of ownership, not on a catalog price.

The current book is roughly $3 million. It is not pure consumables. The person in the seat has sold packaging equipment as well, and that mix is part of the opportunity. About fifteen accounts sit in the territory, including recognizable CPG and industrial names. The job is to hold the good ones and open the ones that are not on the list.

You would work the sales process, keep the CRM current, and build the vendor relationships that let you bring a marking, coding, or automation solution instead of a price. Travel is inside the territory. Overnight is occasional, not a lifestyle.

What good looks like

• You open new accounts. The existing book is the floor, not the ceiling.
• You can sit with a plant manager or a packaging engineer and talk about the line, not just the product.
• You document the ROI. A proposal has a number attached to the total cost, not a brochure.
• You run the territory without a manager in every call. CRM is current because you use it, not because someone asked.
• You learn or already know the equipment side. Consumables keep the lights on. Equipment and automation are where the growth is.

  Who this is for

  Someone who can run a territory. Packaging or end-of-line experience is preferred. Someone already selling into a manufacturing plant or a CPG operation from an adjacent seat also fits: industrial supplies, MRO, automation, process equipment, labeling, coding, or material handling.

• High-caliber prospecting experience. You have built a book, not only inherited one.
• Packaging or end-of-line sales is a plus. Adjacent industrial, MRO, automation, labeling, coding, or process-equipment sales into a plant also fit.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Comfortable with Office 365 and a CRM.
• Independent, disciplined, and willing to be measured on results.
• Based in or willing to be based in the Dayton or Columbus area.

Compensation

Base in the total compensation range of $120k - $140k on a territory that is already producing. Benefits include medical, dental, and a 401(k) with an employer match.

How to think about the seat

If you already sell packaging into plants, this is a territory with a real book and room to add equipment. If you sell into manufacturing or CPG from an adjacent seat and you like opening doors, the company will teach the line. Either way, the job is to hunt and to manage, not to farm only.
