Position Overview As the Senior Design Manager / Document Controller, you will oversee the design coordination, documentation, and compliance of all data center design disciplines on high‑performance, scalable, and sustainable data centers. This role involves managing design processes, ensuring accurate documentation is delivered, creating new processes and supporting cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, efficient systems that power large‑scale data center operations across multiple regions. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage design team meetings for data center project delivery. Conduct and coordinate design reviews to ensure compliance with specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Monitor design phase milestones, ensuring timely delivery of design packages and coordination with project schedules. Set up and manage documentation flow throughout the project lifecycle. Review all documentation issued by the design team. Develop and set standards for engineering document control. Develop and refine design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency across all disciplines and all data centers. Maintain document control systems utilizing document management platforms (Procore, Aconex) to organize, track, and update documents, ensuring version control and accessibility for project stakeholders. Ensure compliance and standards—verify that all documentation adheres to industry standards. Collaborate with construction and operations teams to collect, review, and distribute technical documents, facilitating seamless communication and project alignment. Monitor document submission and approval timelines, providing regular updates to the project team and ensuring milestones are met and delays are minimized. Prepare and organize documentation for internal and external audits, ensuring traceability and readiness for compliance reviews. Manage revisions and updates to documents, ensuring all changes are accurately recorded, communicated, and incorporated into project workflows. Identify and implement improvements in document control procedures to enhance accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency in data center project delivery. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in project management or a related field. Experience: 8+ years in document control, with at least 5 years in mission‑critical projects and 3 years with design management. Software: Extensive experience with project‑management document‑management software (Procore, Aconex, AutoDesk Docs, SmartSheets, etc.). Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate simple technical and complex non‑technical concepts into clear, actionable strategies for both technical and non‑technical audiences. Attention to Detail: Heightened focus on maintaining high‑quality standards. Stakeholder Management: Strong ability to influence and manage key stakeholders across engineering, construction, product, and operations teams. Analytical Skills: Demonstrated success in analyzing program data, defining KPIs, and reporting on success metrics. Preferred Qualifications Engineering Degree: Bachelor's degree in engineering. Global Data Center Experience: Experience working on global data center projects. Hyperscaler Familiarity: Knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, and Meta cloud providers’ data center requirements. International Regulation Knowledge: Experience with international land, energy and/or data center regulations and compliance. Technical Background: Technical understanding of data centers. Leadership: Manage cross‑functional teams and external vendors. Project Management: Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and deliver exceptional results. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Creative Problem‑Solver: Troubleshoot and optimize system performance effectively. Attention to Detail: Meticulous in planning, designing, and reviewing documentation to ensure the highest levels of accuracy and reliability. Working Conditions This role requires occasional travel to data center sites across multiple regions (up to 25% travel). Ability to work in both office environments and active construction sites, adhering to all safety protocols. Location & Remote Options Location: Denver, CO, but will also consider candidates in Alexandria, VA, Seattle, WA, or Austin, TX. Remote candidates will also be considered. Compensation & Benefits Expected Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000 + discretionary bonus.
