Duties

Help

• You will provide technical assistance on urgent mission-degrading CASREPs or similar problems affecting major systems.
• You will communicate with ship's officers, exercising leadership, tact, and persuasion to influence and control corrective actions to be taken.
• You will resolve complex problems in assigned systems and equipment while often under pressure for rapid results to meet operational schedules.
• You will provide skilled technical support to ships operating in the Pacific Ocean area, Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf
  and other locations as assigned.
• You will be required to investigate/resolve specific problems and provide a final field test documentation for elimination of the problems.
• You will provide on-board technical assistance, troubleshooting, repair, and training for advanced shipboard network architecture, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and associated communications systems aboard naval ships
• You will perform routine testing, diagnostics, and repairs on localized shipboard network nodes, workstations, and peripheral equipment.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

FOR GS-11:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: P r oviding technical assistance on urgent and routine problems related to shipboard afloat network systems, to include installing applications, troubleshooting user problems and providing training and assistance, and ensuring the proper security and handling of communications materials, systems and equipment.

FOR GS-10:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting with providing technical assistance on urgent and routine problems related to shipboard systems, to include executing routine vulnerability scans, performing basic hardware/software installations, and basic troubleshooting Navy Consolidated Afloat network systems.
