Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – Orthopedics Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our single-physician private orthopedic practice. Orthopedic experience is preferred. We are open to a per diem candidate or a Full-Time Candidate

The position requires travel between our offices in Commack, Far Rockaway, Jackson Heights, Westbury, Merrick, Patchogue and Astoria Office schedules and locations are provided far in advance (usually set on a monthly basis). One location per day.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat orthopedic conditions, including fractures, sprains, strains, arthritis, and sports-related injuries
• Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and refer patients to radiology when necessary
• Interpret X-rays, MRIs, laboratory results, and other diagnostic studies
• Prescribe medications, physical therapy, and other appropriate treatments
• Develop and manage patient treatment plans
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
• Educate patients about their diagnoses, treatment options, preventive care, and lifestyle changes that may improve their orthopedic health
• Complete accurate and timely patient documentation

Qualifications

• Board-certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• Active and valid New York State license
• Orthopedic experience preferred
• Workers’ Compensation and No-Fault experience preferred
• Experience using EMA or similar electronic medical record software is preferred; willingness to learn is required
• Ability and willingness to travel between office locations
• Strong communication, clinical, and organizational skills
• Spanish-speaking ability is a plus
