Summary:

Join our nonprofit law firm and make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors aged 60+ by helping them access free legal services. In this role, you will provide direct support to Staff Attorneys and Senior Staff Attorneys, manage case files with accuracy and attention to detail, and serve as a key point of contact for clients. Strong listening, critical thinking, and communication skills are essential for success. Bilingual candidates will play an important role in providing translation and interpretation of legal concepts and terminology to ensure clients receive effective and accessible legal assistance. 

Job Duties:

• Prepare correspondence, legal documents, and court pleadings 
• Track deadlines and maintain calendar 
• provide accurate and up to date case file management utilizing case management software 
• Prepare and manage mailings and items for runner service
• Electronically file court documents 
• Perform basic level legal research 
• Perform specific delegated tasks that would otherwise require an attorney 
• Add case note entries in case management system \ Access brief bank for model documents within the computer system 
• Manage legal capacity letters and evaluations received from physicians 
• Perform Notary duties and maintain current Nevada Notary status 
• Participate in Continuing Education 
• Interact with clients, either by phone and/or in person (when situation allows in-person) 
• Take direction from Staff Attorneys and Senior Attorneys 
• Work as an effective team member 
• Provide guidance to less experienced legal assistants and paralegals 
• Provide interpretation/translation for Spanish speaking clients, if bi-lingual 
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• 3+ Years of experience handling legal work, preferably in a law office or government agency 
• Effective written and oral communication skills 
• Possess sufficient knowledge of legal concepts such as Estate Planning, criminal, and/or civil litigation/procedures
• Bi-lingual preferred 
• Basic computer literacy and typing skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. 
• Strong phone skills and etiquette 
• Experience with electronic filing and case management software
• Understanding of effective use of standard office equipment 
• Understanding of and eagerness to serve the senior client community
