Job Title
Classroom Assistance: Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and setting up classroom activities. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, especially those who need additional help with learning. Monitor students during lessons, ensuring they stay engaged and focused on tasks.
Behavior Management: Help manage student behavior by following classroom rules and providing positive reinforcement. Work with students who have behavioral or emotional challenges, implementing behavior management strategies as directed by the teacher.
Student Support: Support students with special needs or learning disabilities, often under the guidance of special education staff. Aid in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) or other learning accommodations. Assist with physical tasks, such as helping students with mobility, feeding, diapering or other personal needs if applicable.
Supervision: Supervise students during recess, lunch, or transitions between classes. Ensure student safety and well-being while participating in class activities or during breaks.
Record Keeping: Help track student progress, attendance, and behavior. Document and report on students' academic performance or emotional well-being, providing feedback to the teacher.
Communication: Communicate with teachers, students, and parents as directed by the teacher. Act as a liaison between students and the teacher, helping students express their needs.
Technology and Classroom Tools: Help operate and maintain classroom technology, such as computers and iPads. Assist students in using educational software or other learning tools.
Other Administrative Support: Perform general administrative duties such as grading simple assignments, organizing classroom materials, and preparing displays or bulletin boards.

In order to teach at Atlas Public Schools, you must: Have a high school diploma or GED. 60 hours of college credit or have passed the Paraprofessional Assessment. Bachelor's degree and certification in special education preferred. Experience working with students. Strong organizational and time management skills. Have the ability to accept and implement professional feedback. Pass a background check complete Family Care Safety Registry. Have (or willing to acquire) a substitute certification if not yet a certified educator. Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
