Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Float Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum 1 year preferred License: Current registered nurse license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1. Experience floating to multiple units 2. Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations 3. Competence in using the Epic charting system Description: This is a float pool position requiring flexibility in scheduling. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in floating units and adapting to varying patient ratios. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics. The role requires the ability to manage various medical-surgical, telemetry, and progressive care unit diagnoses. Patient-to-nurse ratios range from 1:4-5 in PCU and 1:5-6 in medical-surgical and telemetry units. Registered nurses will be expected to float between multiple units as needed. Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required. Key skills include arterial line management, blood product administration, and cardiac telemetry monitoring. Candidates must be adept in managing ventilated patients, central lines, and chest tubes. Caring for patients with cerebrovascular accidents, renal failure, and spinal cord injuries is expected. The position includes working weekends, with an average of 6 weekends in a 13-week contract. Staffing teams consist of interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy and respiratory services. There are expectations regarding holiday shifts; if major holidays fall within the assignment, the candidate will be required to work them. Full compliance with onboarding is essential for timely start.
