Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a CIVIL ENGINEER. Duty Location: Lower Colorado Basin Region, Phoenix Area Office located in Glendale, AZ. Major Duties Engineering Analysis: Perform conventional and routine engineering analyses associated with technical planning activities; collect data; model and analyze data; assess site location and conditions; estimate risk; analyze instrumentation data. Design: Complete conventional and routine engineering designs. Documentation and Presentation: Draft technical documentation for routine engineering assignments or assigned portions of complex projects. Investigations, Assessments, and Inspections: Participate in civil engineering facility examinations, reviews, and inspections; conduct condition assessments and construction/transfer inspections; identify deficiencies relative to design criteria, applicable codes and standards, or state or Federal statutes or regulations; calculate preliminary estimates for repairs; document results; identify future asset investment needs such as extraordinary maintenance and rehabilitation; plan project management. Education This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience. Applicants must submit transcripts to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and the date the degree was conferred. Official transcripts must be sent directly from the university’s Registrar’s office and are required before reporting to work. Failure to submit official transcripts may be grounds for dismissal. Only education from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education is acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute for experience. Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and deemed at least equivalent to U.S. education programs. Requirements U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation. Resume and supporting documentation must be submitted. Minimum education and/or experience requirements must be met. Valid state driver’s license required for operation of government vehicles on public roads; loss of license will result in removal from the position. Other Information Condition of Employment – Probationary Period: A 1‑year probationary period is required. During this period, performance, conduct, and further advancement of the public interest are evaluated. After successful completion, employment may be terminated unless the agency certifies continued employment in writing. Position level: GS‑12 – requires a professional engineering license. Related non‑Federal experience or retired uniformed service experience may be credited towards leave accrual at managerial discretion if it meets criteria. The position is designated as a moderate‑risk Public Trust position and requires a completed and favorably adjudicated Public Trust suitability background investigation (T2S or T2RS) within the last 5 years.
