Cortez - Contracts Specialist

As part of the Supply Chain team, the successful candidate will be support centric adding to our already challenging, yet rewarding, work environment strengthening our mining operations. The Contract Specialist is project oriented and is responsible to coordinate the timely and accurate development/execution of project contract plans to ensure the completion of key milestones/objectives, to minimize commercial risks, to enhance competitive advantage and to meet expectations while meeting Nevada Gold Mines internal standards and requirements. We offer a generous benefits package which includes a competitive medical, dental, and vision plan with national provider networks, a 401k retirement plan with employer contribution, paid time off, company-sponsored medical clinics, company match share purchase program, and much more!Responsibilities:Reporting to the Supply Chain Lead, the Contract Specialist is responsible for the following:Responsible for delivering contracts that cover the requirements of the user areas in response to urgent and ongoing operational needs; identify and develop suppliers in the market to support commercial and operational needsManaging tender process, facilitate the selection of service providers, develop contract documentation and support ongoing contract management as well as coordination of information to evaluate proposals with the user areasDeveloping and maintaining contracts register for end-user group and maintain currencySupporting the continuous improvement and execution of Barrick’s sourcing strategy, policies and guidelines for service categories and contracts; is a participant in the development of value-added service for SCM customers, cost savings, and other performance metricsEnsuring timely and professional service to user departments in the preparation and evaluations of bids, negotiation with suppliers, and recommendation to management for approvals, preparation of contract documentation, issuance of award of contracts and regret letters, and, management and close out of contractsAcquiring services per the operations requirements, obtaining the best total cost of ownership, term of execution and quality conditionsKnowing and complying with the current Mining Safety and Health regulations and Loss Prevention procedures of Barrick, considering the health and safety impact of all work-related decisions and seeking methods to improve safety performance of supplier base both operationally and contractuallyDemonstrating social awareness, commitment and compliance with Barrick’s Social Responsibility Policy, always showing a socially responsible behavior with the Community and with the CompanyPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting OR related field or equivalent experience requiredMinimum 2 years of directly related procurement experience or equivalent combination of training and experience requiredStrong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio requiredKnowledge of Oracle, Ellipse or equivalent enterprise level software packages preferredWell-developed written and verbal communication skills requiredWhat We Can Offer You A comprehensive compensation package including a competitive medical, dental, and vision plan with national provider networks, a 401k retirement plan with employer contribution AND employer match, paid time off, company-sponsored medical clinics, company match share purchase program, and much more!Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.Endless opportunities to grow and learn with industry colleagues.Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organization.Nevada Gold Mines is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.About Nevada Gold Mines Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) is a joint venture between Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%) that combined our significant assets across Nevada in 2019 to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world.
