Together we are leading the way.This job delivers medications to designated areas under close supervision and according to detailed instructions, policies and procedures. This job refills and maintains automated dispensing machines; prices manual medication orders, inventories and reorders stock in the pharmacy; enters data into a computer system and prints labels as necessary; reviews physician's orders and enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system; identifies problems with orders and notifies pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information (i.e. allergies, height, weight) when needed; accurately compounds IV Admixtures and other assigned preparations utilizing aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures; maintains stock in all assigned areas including the IV room and other pharmacy areas; performs related clerical duties including typing, answering phone, filing and greeting nurses and physicians at the Pharmacy window.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
