Job Description

The Electrical Engineer ensures the reliability, safety, and efficiency of the plant’s electrical power distribution systems in a continuous manufacturing environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving electrical infrastructure to support uninterrupted operations, driving process and equipment improvements, minimizing downtime, and enhancing safety, product quality, and energy performance through engineering solutions, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant electrical power distribution systems that support continuous manufacturing operations.

• Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain stable production.

• Report all plant outages, upsets, and emergencies in a timely and accurate manner.

• Instigate engineering studies and develop solutions to overcome quality and safety problems, reduce waste, and improve overall performance.

• Assist in the development of new products, processes, or systems related to electrical distribution and infrastructure.

• Assist in the design, installation, and commissioning of new plant equipment and systems, ensuring efficient introduction with minimal disruption to production.

• Investigate and analyze machinery downtime and engineer solutions or corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Coordinate maintenance activities for plant electrical power systems and distribution networks.

• Champion energy savings initiatives, including tracking, reporting, and implementation of energy-related projects at the site.

• Collaborate with team members to drive continuous improvement processes across the plant.

• Lead quality-focused continuous improvement efforts and coordinate corrective actions as necessary.

• Train team members in standard operating procedures (SOP) and conduct regular audits to ensure adherence and effectiveness.

• Identify, manage, and update spare parts inventory to eliminate downtime caused by lack of critical spares.

• Oversee outside contractors and vendors as needed to support electrical and equipment-related projects.

• Direct, coordinate, and supervise all functions of the shift as they relate to electrical systems and equipment.

• Work on continuous improvement of float glass manufacturing processes from an electrical and systems perspective.

• Adhere to established standards of business conduct, values, and principles.

• Perform other engineering and operational duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Approximately 5–7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong in electrical engineering, including electrical design and power distribution systems.

• Experience with computer-aided design tools, preferably AutoCAD, for electrical schematics and layouts.

• Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems related to manufacturing processes and equipment.

• Proficiency in interpreting and creating electrical schematics and design documentation.

• Strong computer skills and comfort working with engineering and reporting software.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize objectives and targets to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience in project engineering or project management within engineering or construction-related settings.

• Ability to prepare clear and concise engineering and technical reports.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.

• Six Sigma certification or experience with structured continuous improvement methodologies.

• Previous experience in glass manufacturing or float glass processes.

• Broad engineering and manufacturing experience, including exposure to construction or large-scale installation projects.

• Experience with energy management, tracking, and reporting in an industrial setting.

• Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOP) and auditing processes.

• Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of contractors and vendors.

• Quality improvement initiatives and corrective action management.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in a continuous manufacturing facility focused on float glass production. The Electrical Engineer works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on the plant floor and in office settings, directing, coordinating, and supervising shift functions related to electrical systems. The environment involves working around industrial equipment, electrical power distribution systems, and process control infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Work is typically performed during weekday shifts, with presence onsite Monday through Friday, and may require flexibility to support outages, emergencies, or critical projects. The culture promotes collaboration, technical excellence, and ongoing improvement of manufacturing processes and energy performance, supported by modern engineering tools such as computer-aided design software and reporting systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rossford, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $57.69/hr.
