Lead Specialty Veterinarian

Specialty Lead Veterinarian Lead. Mentor. Practice Exceptional Medicine. Bay State Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Services (BSVESS) is seeking an experienced Specialty Lead Veterinarian to join our leadership team. This role offers the opportunity to combine clinical excellence with leadership, helping to shape hospital culture, mentor veterinarians, and drive the continued growth of our specialty services. This role is a 10% - 20% administration position to be balanced with your current clinical role. Working closely with the Group Medical Director, fellow Lead Veterinarians, and Senior Leadership Team, you will help ensure exceptional patient care, support doctor development, improve hospital performance, and strengthen relationships with clients and referring veterinarians. What You'll Do Lead, mentor, and support BSVESS specialty veterinarians Foster a collaborative, accountable, and positive team culture Help recruit, onboard, and retain outstanding specialists Maintain and advance high standards of patient care across specialties Partner with leadership to drive departmental growth and operational excellence Participate in strategic planning and hospital leadership initiatives Support teaching and mentorship of doctors, externs, and staff Collaborate with the Director of Client Experience to address client concerns Clinical & Leadership Responsibilities This is a hybrid leadership and clinical position, with approximately 50% of time spent providing direct patient care and 50% focused on leadership, team development, and hospital initiatives. Qualifications Veterinary license in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain licensure) 6+ years of experience as a board certified small animal specialist (DACVIM , DACVECC, DACVR, DACVD, DACVO, DACVS) Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills High emotional intelligence and a collaborative management style Commitment to excellence in patient care and team development Compensation Base salary specific to current role Leadership stipend $20,000 annually Our Core Values Integrity Teamwork Compassion Respect Patient Advocacy Why BSVESS?
