Building Inspector

ICC-Certified Building Inspector – Norwalk, CA What You'll Do Conduct inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure that the building and construction site comply with safety, structural, and building code regulations. Issue violation notices, stop-work orders, and permits for construction. Document results of inspections. Effectively communicate findings to homeowners and contractors. Coordinate with and assist other field inspectors, picking up extra inspections as needed. Explain and clarify code‑related problems with contractor field personnel. Communicate and uphold standards consistently. Conduct building damage assessment inspections. Invest time in continued education. Provide training and mentoring to current inspectors, and coordinate and assist in selection and training of new staff. Follow up on phone calls and compliance issues. Handle customer service issues for walk‑ins that need clarification on code‑related issues. Serve as a resource for inspectors in the field. Interpret and apply standards and regulations for Building, Electrical, Elevator, Mechanical, and Plumbing. Conduct ride‑along sessions with field inspectors to provide ongoing supervision and feedback regarding job performance and consistency on field calls. Maintain awareness of new developments in the field of inspections and incorporate them appropriately into programs. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For International Code Council (ICC) Certification (Commercial and Residential). Valid CA Class C Driver's License. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with jurisdictions as a Building Inspector. Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Municipal experience.
