Description:
RN's must pass a designated exam during the orientation period.
This exam is an open book format covering skills learned.
Resources will be provided to assist in passing.
A minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure to achieve this will result in termination.
Candidates must adhere to a 50-mile radius rule and cannot be employed in any full-time, part-time, or PRN capacity with facilities associated with the employer.
A driver's license is required for verification purposes.
Artificial nails are prohibited in any department providing patient care.
Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of contract.
The unit comprises 24 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5.
Virtual nursing support is available on day and night shifts.
Common diagnoses and types of patients include CHF, PNA, Sepsis, Stroke/TIA, COPD, PE, and AKI.
Candidates must exhibit skills in titrating drips, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nicardipine, and Dobutamine.
Charge nurses and house supervisors are present.
Nurse aids work on this unit at a ratio of 1:8 when the unit is full.
Respiratory equipment used includes high flow oxygen, BiPap, and CPAP.
Telemetry monitoring is available, with monitor techs in place.
Registered nurses are responsible for reading strips.
Shifts involve 12-hour rotations, with a self-scheduling system in place.
One extra shift is required per 6-week period.
Weekend work is required every third weekend.
Holiday scheduling is based on a weekend rotation.
Floating is mandatory for nurses when required.
Scrub color is navy tops and bottoms.
Three shifts of orientation will be provided on the assigned shift.
The facility can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment.
The charting system used is EPIC.
A BSN is not required.
Candidates must hold a valid nursing license.
This position is in an acute care setting.
