HVAC MECHANIC

HVAC MechanicUnder general supervision, maintain, repair and install heating and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout the district. Maintain and provide for safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems in district facilities.Education/ Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDValid Texas driver's licenseTexas air conditioning and refrigeration contractor license or technician certificationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance and installation techniquesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and written materialAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to diagnose and resolve problemsAbility to use hand and power toolsMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of heating and air conditioning systems, including rooftop equipment.Install new heating and air conditioning systems and componentsRelocate and expand existing HVAC system as neededRepair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiringFabricate, assemble and install duct work and install duct work and piping according to specifications and codeWire and connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematicsMaintain freon dispensing records to meet federal requirementsMaintain preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coilsPerform duct cleaning and air quality testing as neededAssist energy manager to complete energy conservation surveys to realize most efficient, cost effective use of HVAC energyReceive and complete work ordersSelect material and hardware and make time and material estimatesMaintain accurate records on material and labor usedMaintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materialsInspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are cleanWork with building principals and supervisors to complete projectsDetect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection proceduresRespond to emergency calls as neededOther duties as assigned by supervisorSafety:Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipmentOperate tools and equipment according to establish safety proceduresEnsure that equipment is in safe operating conditionFollow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediatelySupervisory Responsibilities: NoneWorking Conditions:The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, move throughout the room and/ or facility, and communicate verbally and electronically.Use hands and fingers to handle tools.
