Shipping and Receiving ClerkThe Shipping and Receiving Clerk safely operates forklifts and other powered industrial equipment to move, load, and unload product while maintaining strict compliance with food safety, traceability, and occupational safety standards. This role supports efficient and costeffective shipping operations, ensures accurate documentation of product transfers, and helps maintain clean, sanitary, and organized storage areas.ResponsibilitiesReport to the work area fit for duty as a forklift and powered industrial equipment operator.Attend and successfully complete the Forklift Operator Course before operating any type of forklift on the property.Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Preventive Controls Rules, and Occupational Safety Rules at all times.Coordinate with the Dock Supervisor to ensure all product is fully accounted for and properly documented for traceability.Directly assist in ensuring all transfers from the shelling plant are accurately recorded and documented.Assist the Shipping Manager as needed in completing maintenance tasks related to shipping and material handling operations.Ensure product is handled and stored in a way that prevents any risk of crosscontamination with other allergens prior to loading or unloading lots.Follow all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines consistently.Maintain forklifts in a clean and sanitary condition in alignment with the Master Sanitation Schedule.Properly complete Forklift Daily Logs to confirm equipment is in good running order and to document any issues.Maintain cold storage areas according to the Safe Food Plan, Master Sanitation Schedule, and Preventive Control Rules.Maintain wall clearances of at least 18 inches to help prevent potential pest activity or infestations.Assist the Shipping Manager in the efficient and costeffective shipping of finished product to customers.Follow all shipping instructions and requirements specified by each individual customer.Load trailers in accordance with all legal weight requirements and safety regulations.Report, document, and help correct any discrepancies related to customer specifications or regulatory guidelines.Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping Manager in support of shipping and receiving operations.Operate all forklifts, manlifts, and scissorlifts in accordance with established safety policies and procedures.Attend a refresher Forklift Operator Course every two years to maintain safe and compliant operation.Move and maneuver bags of product between areas using forklifts to ensure proper loading of product for shipments.Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by peanut shelling operations, even if not specifically outlined in this job description.Essential SkillsProven ability to safely operate forklifts and powered industrial equipment in a shipping and receiving or material handling environment.Experience with sitdown forklifts and lift truck operation for maneuvering bags of product between areas.Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions accurately.Understanding of basic production and plant processes.Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fastpaced operational environment.Willingness and ability to work shifts, including late or early hours, weekends, and overtime when necessary.Capability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, sitting, handling or pulling materials, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing throughout the shift.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification through the employers Forklift Operator Course.Forklift experience preferred, including material handling and shipping and receiving tasks.Experience operating frontend loaders, manlifts, or scissorlifts is an advantage.Understanding of food safety practices, including GMPs, Safe Food Plans, Preventive Controls Rules, and allergen control.Awareness of traceability requirements and accurate documentation practices in a production or warehouse environment.Ability to maintain clean and sanitary equipment and storage areas in accordance with a Master Sanitation Schedule.Lift Truck Operator I: 05 years of operator experience.Lift Truck Operator II: 59 years of operator experience.Lift Truck Operator III: 10+ years of operator experience.Why Work Here?You join a team that values safety, food quality, and operational excellence, offering structured training such as initial and refresher forklift operator courses to support your professional growth. You frequently work around forklifts, frontend loaders, manlifts, and scissorlifts, as well as cold storage areas that must be maintained according to food safety and sanitation standards. The position involves regular standing, walking, lifting, reaching, climbing, and other physical activities, and requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as outlined in company guidelines. Work is performed in shifts, which may include early or late hours, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet shipping and production demands.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smithville, GA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $14.00 - $20.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
