Under the supervision of a Manager of Information Services 1, this .NET GIS web developer position will be part of the Digital Transformation Office/Geospatial Services/Enterprise Services unit. The candidate will develop applications and products, support existing applications, and may code Python automation, GIS web and desktop solutions using ESRI or open-source frameworks. The position may supervise up to 2 ITS3 and 1 ITS2 positions. Key Responsibilities Design, code, test, and maintain .NET framework applications, robust web, desktop, or mobile solutions. Conduct code reviews, debugging, performance optimization, and security implementation. Translate business needs into functional software, work with databases, integrate services, and stay current with the .NET ecosystem. Write clean, scalable code for applications, APIs, and user interfaces. Create unit tests, identify and fix bugs, ensure application quality, and maintain existing software. Collaborate with business analysts, designers, and other developers to meet project goals. Design application layers, database integrations, and technical specifications. Participate in performance tuning, documentation, DevOps with Azure, automated deployment, and cloud integration. Implement secure coding practices, access controls, and data encryption. Supervise junior staff (ITS3, ITS2). Technical Focus Areas Languages: C#, JavaScript, Python. Frameworks: .NET Core ecosystem. Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL. Architectures: microservices patterns. Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25, or in a position at the SG23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law.
