Park Aide (Extra-Help)

The Park Aide (Extra-Help) works in one of the Solano County parks, performing a variety of routine clerical and/or park maintenance tasks. Park maintenance duties include mowing lawns, collecting litter in campgrounds and picnic areas, collecting fees at the gates, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining roads, trails and walks using shovels, rakes, and brooms. Extra-help employees do not have rights to a regular position or continued employment and are excluded from civil service. The hours worked may be part-time or full-time, but hours cannot exceed more than 999 hours in a fiscal year. Position requirements include no experience required, and applicants under 18 years of age will be required to secure a work permit before being employed.

The selection process will consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a supplemental questionnaire assessment, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed. All potential new hires and employees considered for promotion to management, confidential positions or unrepresented positions will be subject to a background and reference check after contingent job offer is accepted.
