Job Description
The 1st Shift Material Handler supports daily warehouse operations by safely moving materials, assisting with loading and unloading trucks, and helping with packaging and unpacking finished units. This is an entry-level role in a fast-paced environment where you will handle electronics such as modems and controls, ensure accurate order preparation, and maintain a steady workflow throughout the day.
Responsibilities

• Use pallet jacks to move materials and products throughout the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring materials are handled carefully and accurately.
• Support packaging and unpacking of units, including placing electronics such as modems and controls into boxes.
• Perform order picking, kitting, and general material handling tasks to support production and shipping activities.
• Use RF scanners and other tools to track inventory, locate items, and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with warehouse packing, including labeling, sealing, and preparing orders for shipment.
• Operate sit-down forklifts when needed, following all safety procedures and guidelines (if trained and authorized).
• Handle general labor tasks such as staging materials, organizing stock, and keeping work areas clean and orderly.
• Import data into the warehouse system as needed, using basic computer skills to update records and track orders.
• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate work and resolve issues quickly.
• Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure correct items, quantities, and packaging for customer orders.
• Take initiative to stay busy, identify tasks that need to be done, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the team.
• Consistently arrive on time and follow the established work schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 months of warehouse experience.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to take initiative and stay productive without constant supervision.
• Experience with material handling, including pallet jacks and general warehouse tasks.
• Basic understanding of using computers to import or update data in a system.
• Ability to understand and speak English well enough to follow instructions and communicate with the team.
• Strong attention to detail when handling, packing, and labeling electronics and other products.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with coworkers and supervisors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with forklift operation, including sit-down forklifts.
• Background in warehouse packing, order picking, and kitting.
• Familiarity with RF scanners for inventory and order processing.
• Experience in general production, assembly, or kitting environments.
• Previous experience as a packager, kitter, or general warehouse associate.
• Comfort performing repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Work Environment
This role is based in a small to medium-sized warehouse located inside a larger facility. You will work a 1st shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment involves regular use of pallet jacks, RF scanners, and potentially sit-down forklifts, with frequent lifting and movement of materials throughout the day. Dress comfortably and appropriately for warehouse work and changing temperatures while following all safety and workplace guidelines.

This is a Contract position based out of Taunton, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.63 - $16.63/hr.
