With operations in New York, South Carolina, and Canada, our fundamental belief has been to provide unparalleled service to all while maintaining our values of honesty and integrity both on land and sea./ph3Key Responsibilities/h3ulliSupervise daily operations of port crews, including equipment operators, riggers, and laborers./liliAssist in the setup, inspection, and safe operation of port equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and other material handling machinery./liliEnsure all cargo handling activities follow company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols./liliReport equipment issues, unsafe conditions, or operational delays to Foreman A or Operations Manager./liliMonitor workflow and make operational adjustments to maintain efficiency./liliTrain and mentor crew members on operational procedures and safety practices./liliMaintain accurate logs of work performed, equipment usage, and safety inspections./liliCommunicate effectively with Foreman A, vessel personnel, and terminal staff regarding operational progress and issues./liliAssist in minor troubleshooting or adjustments of port equipment to ensure continuous operations./li/ulh3Crew Leadership and Administrative Duties/h3ulliServe as the team leader for assigned crews when foreman A is off duty, ensuring all employee hours are accurately tracked and approved./liliDevelop and manage crew schedules based on vessel arrivals, cargo types, and operational requirements./liliOversee payroll submissions for employees under their supervision, ensuring accuracy and timeliness./liliCoordinate with the Operations Manager and HR team regarding staffing needs, attendance, and scheduling changes./liliMaintain organized records of timekeeping, attendance, and payroll documentation for compliance and reporting purposes./li/ulh3Required Qualifications/h3ulliHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED)./liliMinimum of 3 years of experience in port operations, marine terminals, or logistics./liliAt least 1 year of supervisory or lead experience managing dock crews or material handling operations./liliStrong knowledge of port equipment, cargo handling procedures, and safety standards./liliEffective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills./liliAbility to read and interpret operational plans, cargo manifests, and equipment documentation./liliFlexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet port operational schedules./li/ulh3Preferred Qualifications/h3ulliOSHA 30 certification./liliTWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)./liliCertifications in rigging, signaling, or crane operation./liliExperience with bulk materials, breakbulk cargo, or containerized cargo operations./liliBasic computer skills for reporting and communication tasks./li/ulh3Physical Requirements/h3ulliMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks around port equipment and cargo./liliAbility to climb ladders, access docks, and work at heights as required./liliMust work outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy machinery./liliPPE use required at all times, including hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and steel-toe boots./li/ulh3Additional Requirements/h3ulliMust be authorized to work in the United States./liliEmployment in this role may be contingent upon the successful completion of certain pre-employment requirements, which could include a background check, drug screen, or driving record review, depending on the position./li/ulh3Work Environment/h3ulliField-based role primarily at marine terminals and port facilities./liliExposure to noise, dust, weather, and heavy equipment./liliFast-paced, safety-critical environment requiring situational awareness and strong communication./liliIrregular hours or on-call availability based on operational demands./li/ulh3Pay Range: $30-35/hr/h3pWhat we offer:/pulliPaid Time Off/liliComprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance/liliAdditional Coverage Through AFLAC/liliCompany Paid Holidays/lili401(k) with an 8% Match/liliShort Term, Long Term Disability/liliGroup Life Insurance/liliEmployee Assistance Fund/liliEmergency Service Worker Bonus/liliEmployee Referral Bonus/lili15% Carhart Discount for all employees NY only/li/ulh3Equal Opportunity Employer Statement/h3pCarver Companies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
