Scientist - Cytometry & Imaging Sciences
Amgen Inc
Amgen seeks a scientist to operate and maintain multiparameter flow cytometers and imaging platforms in South San Francisco. The role involves instrument calibration, troubleshooting, fluorophore panel design, and training others in a BSL-2 laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate and operate multiparameter flow cytometers, cell sorters, and imaging microscopes
- Design and compile complex fluorophore panels for flow cytometry instruments
- Troubleshoot instrument problems and coordinate field engineer support as needed
- Train laboratory users on facility equipment and maintain BSL-2 safety standards
- Conduct risk assessments for new laboratory activities and oversee prioritized projects
Requirements
- PhD, PharmD, or MD preferably with cytometry experience
- Master's degree with 2+ years cytometry experience, or Bachelor's with 4+ years
- Life sciences education background
- Experience in biopharmaceutical or academic research settings
- Knowledge of flow and imaging cytometry integration with single-cell technologies
- Familiarity with AI/ML analytical platforms and scientific documentation practices
