Duties Key Responsibilities As a Lead Pre-kindergarten Teacher, you will be instrumental in shaping the educational experience of our pre-kindergarten children. Your responsibilities will include: Curriculum Development & Implementation: Planning and executing age-appropriate, engaging, and play-based lesson plans that align with New York State Pre-kindergarten Foundation for the Common Core, fostering cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Classroom Leadership & Management: Creating and maintaining a lively, organized, and safe classroom environment that encourages participation, positive behavior, and a love for learning. Child Safety & Well-being: Ensuring the health, safety, and supervision of all children at all times, adhering to all New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations. Family Communication & Engagement: Building strong, communicative partnerships with families through regular updates, parent‑teacher conferences, and open‑door policies to support each child's development. Child Observation & Assessment: Documenting children's progress, conducting ongoing assessments, and adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs, including children with diverse learning abilities. Team Collaboration: Working cooperatively with assistant teachers and center leadership to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience for all children. Professional Development: Actively participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional growth opportunities to enhance teaching practices. Requirements Degree in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education (Birth-2), or a related field. Successful completion of a New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) criminal background check and fingerprinting. Current and valid certification in CPR and First Aid, including training specifically for infants and children (or willingness to obtain promptly upon hire). Medical clearance, including a recent physical examination and tuberculosis (TB) test. Preferred Qualifications: NYS Teacher Certification (e.g., Early Childhood B-2, or Students with Disabilities B-2). Experience working with preschool/pre‑k children in a licensed childcare setting. Experience working with children with special education needs or an understanding of inclusive practices. Nice To Haves 2+ year early childhood teaching experience Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
