Job Description

The Maintenance Technician inspects, installs, repairs, and rebuilds a wide range of plant operating equipment by reading and interpreting equipment manuals, technical drawings, and work orders. This role performs both emergency and unscheduled repairs, as well as preventative maintenance and routine checks on production equipment, including pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, pumps, fillers, agitators, motors, and other industrial machinery. The technician diagnoses mechanical and electrical issues, uses a variety of tools and lifting equipment, and ensures that production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, install, repair, and rebuild plant operating equipment by reading and interpreting equipment manuals, technical drawings, and work orders.
• Perform emergency and unscheduled repairs on production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain continuous operations.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and routine checks on production equipment, including pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, pumps, fillers, agitators, motors, pug mills, hammer mills, fans, and related machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems on a wide variety of industrial equipment and implement effective repairs.
• Use hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively to perform maintenance tasks and equipment repairs.
• Cut, weld, and fabricate components as needed to repair or modify equipment and support ongoing plant operations.
• Disassemble and rebuild multiple types of equipment, ensuring proper reassembly, alignment, and safe operation.
• Work with mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding processes, including wire feed and rod welding, as well as oxygen/acetylene and plasma cutting.
• Splice belts and assemble or repair chains to maintain conveyor and material handling systems.
• Detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment using troubleshooting techniques.
• Operate or assist with heavy equipment as necessary to support maintenance and production activities.
• Support LEAN implementation and actively participate in lean activities to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance equipment reliability.
• Effectively handle multiple maintenance priorities with minimal supervision while maintaining a high standard of safety and quality.
• Work flexibly across varying shifts, including weekends, nights, on-call assignments, and overtime as required to support plant operations.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and work orders accurately.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and repair complex machinery issues.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to disassemble and rebuild multiple types of industrial equipment.
• Proficiency in cutting, welding, and fabrication, including wire feed and rod welding.
• Experience using oxygen/acetylene and plasma cutting equipment safely and effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on production equipment such as conveyors, pumps, motors, fillers, agitators, pug mills, hammer mills, and fans.
• Capability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical, electrical, and industrial systems.
• Ability to work any shift and remain flexible for varying schedules, including weekends, nights, on-call duties, and overtime.
• Comfort working around large manufacturing equipment, furnaces, and heavy equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions, remain teachable and trainable, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems, including 3-phase power, electrical troubleshooting, PLC troubleshooting, and reading electrical schematics.
• Ability to support and engage in LEAN implementation and related continuous improvement activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Electrical maintenance experience is a strong plus and can support advancement within the maintenance team.
• Experience with industrial PLC troubleshooting and electrical schematics is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical diagrams.
• Experience splicing belts and assembling or repairing chains for conveyors and material handling systems.
• Comfort using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools in an industrial setting.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and maintenance tasks efficiently.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production and operations teams to ensure equipment uptime and reliability.
• Willingness to learn new technologies, equipment, and processes as the facility evolves.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mica, WA.

The pay range for this position is $27.46 - $27.46/hr.
