We are located in the great state of Texas and are currently seeking a relationship builder and difference maker as an Activity Instructor . Disability Resources, Inc. provides industry-leading services to our residents such as; helping residents develop their life skills, providing required medical care, a variety of therapies, offering spiritual opportunities for growth, and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

About the Role:

The Activity instructor plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by planning, organizing, and implementing engaging and meaningful activities tailored to diverse groups. This position requires a creative and detail-oriented professional who can assess the interests and needs of participants to develop programs that promote social interaction, physical wellness, and cognitive stimulation. The Activity Coordinator collaborates with staff, volunteers, and external partners to ensure activities are inclusive, safe, and accessible to all participants. Success in this role is measured by the ability to foster a positive environment that encourages participation and enriches the daily experiences of those served. Ultimately, the Activity Coordinator contributes to building a vibrant community atmosphere that supports personal growth and well-being.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in activity planning, recreation, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including seniors, children, or individuals with special needs.
• Basic proficiency with computer applications for scheduling and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in activity coordination or therapeutic recreation (e.g., CTRS).
• Experience working in healthcare, senior living, or community service settings.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Proficiency in using digital tools and social media to promote activities and engage participants.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a variety of recreational, educational, and social activities that cater to the interests and abilities of participants.
• Coordinate schedules, resources, and logistics to ensure smooth execution of all planned activities and events.
• Engage with participants to gather feedback and assess the effectiveness and enjoyment of activities, making adjustments as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and community organizations to align activities with participants’ needs and goals.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, activity outcomes, and any incidents, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations.

Skills:

The Activity Instructor utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to connect with participants and understand their preferences and needs. Organizational skills are essential for managing multiple activities, coordinating resources, and maintaining detailed records to ensure smooth operations. Creativity and problem-solving abilities are applied to develop innovative and inclusive programs that engage diverse groups effectively. Collaboration skills enable the coordinator to work closely with staff, volunteers, and external partners to enhance program quality and participant satisfaction. Additionally, proficiency with technology supports scheduling, documentation, and promotion of activities, contributing to efficient and impactful program delivery.
