About the Organization
Upper Montclair is a private 27-hole golf club located 9 miles West of New York City. The
course was originally designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1929. In the 1950's, a major course
renovation was directed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. which transformed Upper Montclair Country
Club into its present 27-hole Championship design. Upper Montclair Country Club has a strong
tradition of producing championship conditions and is considered to be one of the best private
clubs in northern New Jersey.

Position Summary

Upper Montclair Country Club is seeking a dependable and hardworking Dish Steward to join our Culinary Team. The Dish Steward plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all kitchen areas, equipment, dishes, and utensils to ensure a safe and efficient operation. This position supports the culinary and banquet teams by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our members and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and cooking utensils using commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish room, kitchen, and food preparation areas always.
• Properly store clean dishes, utensils, and equipment in designated areas.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors and clean spills promptly to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist with cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, storage areas, walk-in coolers, and workstations.
• Ensure adequate supplies of cleaning chemicals, soap, and sanitizing solutions are maintained.
• Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
• Follow all local health department regulations and club sanitation standards.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of kitchen and banquet operations as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous dishwashing or kitchen experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing equipment and handle cleaning chemicals.

Schedule Requirements

• Must be available to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Overtime may be required based on business needs and special events.

Work Environment

The Dish Steward works primarily in a commercial kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, water and cleaning chemicals.
