ABOUT THRASHER

The Thrasher Group has been improving the communities where we live and work since 1983 - not as outside consultants, but as residents and neighbors. In short, we're not a steppingstone. Thrasher is a firm where people build better careers and better communities, all in the places they call home.

Graphic Design & Marketing Specialist

The Thrasher Group is seeking a Graphic Design & Marketing Specialist with a strong professional graphic design background to join our Marketing team in our Bridgeport, West Virginia office.

The successful candidate must be able to independently develop polished, professional visual materials from concept through final production-not simply work within existing templates. Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is required, along with a demonstrated understanding of typography, composition, visual hierarchy, branding, layout, and print and digital production.

But we are looking for more than a designer . This position also supports proposals, interview presentations, client communications, and marketing initiatives that help Thrasher communicate effectively and win work. The right candidate will be curious, comfortable learning our business, and able to think beyond the immediate assignment to consider the audience, message, and desired outcome.

What You'll Do
  • Create original graphic design work for proposals, presentations, advertisements, campaigns, events, client communications, and digital platforms.
  • Take projects from concept through final production, making informed decisions about layout, typography, imagery, hierarchy, messaging, and application. Develop graphics, infographics, diagrams, maps, and other visual elements that make complex information easier to understand.
  • Design and produce professional print and digital materials, including advertisements, brochures, signage, displays, event materials, and web/social graphics.
  • Prepare production-ready files and understand print production requirements, including bleeds, folds, panels, image resolution, and color modes.
  • Develop proposal and interview presentation graphics and support the production of qualifications packages, statements of interest, and other business development materials.
  • Research clients, projects, communities, and industries and work with engineers, architects, planners, and other technical staff to develop audience-focused content.
  • Write and edit proposal narratives, project descriptions, presentation content, advertisements, and other marketing communications.
  • Support video editing, digital content, conference materials, and other marketing needs.
What We're Looking For

First and foremost, you must be a strong designer . We need someone who can begin with a blank page, limited direction, and a communication objective and develop an original, professional-quality solution.

We also want someone who thinks beyond the immediate request. You should be naturally curious, ask thoughtful questions, seek context, research unfamiliar topics, bring ideas to the table, and take ownership of assignments.

This position is not limited to graphic design. Successful candidates must also be comfortable researching, writing, interviewing technical staff, developing presentations, and learning about the industries and communities we serve.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Communication Design, or a closely related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three years of professional graphic design experience preferred.
  • Strong professional proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design software required .
  • Strong understanding of typography, composition, visual hierarchy, branding, image editing/manipulation, and print and digital production.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
  • Strong writing, editing, research, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.

Experience in a corporate marketing department, agency, professional services firm, or similar environment is preferred. Experience with proposals, presentations, video editing, or architecture, engineering, construction, or another technical industry is a plus.

Portfolio Required

A portfolio is required for consideration and must demonstrate original, professional-level graphic design work.

Examples of multi-page or multi-panel layouts, advertisements, brochures, presentations, campaigns, or other real-world business communications are strongly encouraged.

What You Bring / What We'll Teach

We can teach you about engineering, our proposals, our clients, and our markets.

What we need you to bring is a strong design foundation, professional-level technical skills, creative judgment, curiosity, initiative, and the ability to think past the ask.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance; flexible spending and dependent care accounts; a Health Savings Account with company contributions; company-paid short- and long-term disability; and a $100,000 life insurance policy paid for by the company.
