Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production operations. The Maintenance Technician works with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and helps keep the facility clean, safe, and well-organized.

Responsibilities:

• Review maintenance and repair requests, determine priorities, and plan appropriate actions to address equipment and facility issues.
• Coordinate maintenance and repair activities with site leadership to minimize disruption to production operations.
• Troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
• Work on a variety of industrial equipment, including industrial washing equipment, ovens, conveyors, motors, belts, paint booths, CNC equipment, and cranes.
• Move existing equipment and install new equipment as needed to support changing production needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair work for analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and reliability of machines and facility equipment.
• Collaborate closely with internal staff and external vendors to resolve equipment and process issues in a cost-effective and timely manner.
• Obtain and review quotes from vendors for parts and services needed for maintenance and repairs.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of the facility to identify and resolve equipment and facility issues and to improve overall cleanliness and organization.
• Perform routine housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and recommend enhancements to the maintenance program and processes.
• Operate forklifts and scissor lifts safely as required to support maintenance activities.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Adhere to industrial shop safety practices and applicable OSHA regulations while performing all tasks.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall facility and production needs.

Essential Skills:

• At least 2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems with industrial equipment.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical troubleshooting, including motors, belts, conveyors, and related components.
• Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting, including reading and working from electrical schematics and drawings.
• Experience with industrial maintenance on equipment such as industrial washing equipment, ovens, conveyors, paint booths, CNC equipment, and cranes.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
• Ability to operate forklifts and scissor lifts safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of industrial shop safety practices and OSHA regulations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills to interact effectively with staff across different departments.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize workload according to business demands.
• Ability to work with vendors to obtain quotes for parts and services and to support cost-effective maintenance solutions.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• General computer literacy, with experience using basic software; Excel experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to maintenance and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience conducting preventive maintenance programs for industrial equipment and facility systems.
• Experience documenting maintenance activities for tracking, analysis, and reporting.
• Experience participating in continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Familiarity with housekeeping and 5S or similar workplace organization practices.
• Comfort working with a variety of vendors and external service providers.
• Ability to adapt to changing production needs and support equipment moves and installations.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance with workplace regulations.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a small, clean industrial shop environment. The facility is not temperature controlled; however, industrial-sized fans help keep the workspace cooler during warmer months. You will work around industrial washing equipment, ovens, conveyors, motors, belts, paint booths, CNC equipment, and cranes, as well as forklifts and scissor lifts. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing stable daytime hours. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with regular housekeeping and facility inspections forming part of daily operations.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Milwaukee, WI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
