Remote Circuit Design Engineer

TEKsystems is seeking a circuit design engineer for its Alaska-based client. This position will be 100% remote working typical Alaska business hours, Monday through Friday.Position OverviewThe Circuit Engineer II is responsible for the circuit engineering portion of major telecommunications projects and may serve as the primary engineer on projects of moderate complexity. This role applies engineering principles related to telecommunications networks, circuit design, facility assignments, equipment modeling, and provisioning.The engineer will work closely with Order Management, Network Design, Project Management, and Engineering teams to ensure accurate circuit designs, resource allocation, equipment procurement, and on-time service delivery commitments.Key ResponsibilitiesCircuit Design & Engineering (25%)Design telecommunications circuits and prepare complete and accurate Circuit Layout Records (CLRs)Perform circuit analysis and testing using designated engineering tools and equipmentOwn the design process from initial concept through completed implementationEnsure engineering standards and design requirements are met throughout the lifecycleProject & Engineering Support (30%)Partner with Project Managers and Coordinators to provide requested information from circuit and equipment databasesSupport project execution by validating network resources and engineering requirementsAssist with delivery timelines and provisioning milestonesOrder Validation & Provisioning (15%)Review customer and internal orders for validityVerify availability of facilities and network equipment needed to fulfill circuit requirementsSupport provisioning activities and facility assignmentsDatabase Integrity & Cross-Functional Engineering Review (15%)Collaborate with various engineering teams to verify accuracy and integrity of circuit database recordsServe as an additional quality control checkpoint for engineering data utilized across the organizationOrder Coordination & Service Delivery (10%)Coordinate multiple circuit orders ranging from simple to highly complex implementationsProvide Access Service Request (ASR) requirements supporting DS1 through Ethernet servicesFacilitate seamless order processing between engineering and operational teamsEquipment & Resource Management (5%)Submit Engineering Service Requests (ESRs) for network facilities and equipmentTrack ESRs through installation and readiness for serviceSubmit Purchase Orders (POs) for equipment required to support circuit designsTechnical RequirementsCandidates should possess demonstrated experience and working knowledge in:Telecommunications engineering principles and practicesAnalog and digital circuit designNetwork design methodologies and engineering toolsIP TelephonyMPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching)Fiber optic transmission systemsMicrowave transmission systemsRadio networksSatellite communicationsCopper transport facilitiesMultiplexing technologiesCompression technologiesEcho cancellation systemsDigital Cross-Connect Systems (DCS)Network topology and circuit visualization/designTelecommunications provisioning environmentsCircuit database management and engineering record systemsRequired SkillsStrong critical thinking and complex problem-solving capabilitySystems analysis and operational monitoring skillsAbility to visualize network and circuit layoutsStrong written communication and documentation skillsEffective verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiencesStrong deductive reasoning and analytical abilitiesKnowledge of telecom network functionality and transmission hardware/software platformsLevel RequirementsEngineer II, Circuit | Grade E06This is a mid-level engineering role requiring a comprehensive understanding of telecommunications operations and network functions.
