Description:Administers nursing care within the scope of practice under the direction of a registered nurse, physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, or chiropractor.

Duties include administering oxygen, applying sterile dressings, inserting catheters, reinserting gastrotomy tubes, suctioning, irrigating wounds, giving enemas, collecting specimens, and performing dialysis treatments.

Monitors patients during procedures and assists physicians with exams and treatments.

Provides first-aid in emergencies, performs CPR, and administers controlled and non-controlled medications as prescribed.

Maintains medication accountability records by charting patient records, preparing and counting medications, and maintaining medical supplies.

Observes and reports patient conditions, including medication reactions and treatment responses, and prepares related documentation.

Delivers general nursing care and personal assistance to patients, including vital sign checks, hygiene assistance, and support during daily activities.

Provides guidance and mentorship to lower-level direct care staff in delivering general nursing care.

Orders medication and medical supplies, maintains cleanliness of the nursing station and medication room, and performs clerical tasks.

Knowledge of nursing procedures, pharmacology, client care, first-aid, CPR, general practices, and HIPAA regulations is essential.

Skills in the use of medical equipment and operation of personal computers are necessary.

Ability to recognize unusual conditions, develop rapport with patients, and follow verbal instructions associated with practical nursing tasks is required.

Applicants must demonstrate physical capability to administer injections and perform medical treatments and possess the strength to assist and reposition patients.
