Part-Time/PRN Pharmacist

Our District Support Pharmacist (DSP) plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in each pharmacy, acting as a role model and ensuring optimal pharmacy operations and patient care within the district. Responsibilities Travel within the district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL). Oversee pharmacy operations and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation. Assume day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, coaching the pharmacy team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory, especially cold‑chain products, by guiding the pharmacy team to follow best practices. Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Keep clinical and technical skills current through required trainings and continuing medical education (CME). Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible. Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within the designated timeframe. Concentrate on tasks for extended periods and pivot quickly when needed. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Demonstrate customer‑service orientation by helping people in a friendly manner. Use verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and colleagues, including active listening. Employ mathematical reasoning for tasks such as determining tablet counts, day supply, and bottle requirements. Resolve challenging interactions by selecting appropriate courses of action. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, bag, and reach items, including overhead and repetitive finger tasks. Perform precision tasks requiring quick adjustments of equipment. Stoop to lift and move items between low and high positions, requiring adequate back and leg strength. Maintain visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing and reading small parts. Lift up to 20 lbs with occasional force of 20 lbs; frequently lift up to 10 lbs. Communicate spoken word when detailed or important instructions must be conveyed accurately. Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Preferred Qualifications 1‑2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
