Job Description

Job Summary:
Performs tissue sample preparation for microscopic analysis, ensuring proper fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining. Maintains laboratory quality standards and operates laboratory equipment efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Prepare tissue samples by fixing, processing, and embedding in paraffin wax.
Cut tissue sections using microtome or cryostat for microscopic examination.
Mount tissue sections onto slides and apply appropriate stains to highlight abnormalities.
Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of histology equipment and instruments.
Manage laboratory supplies, ensuring inventory levels and quality control procedures are maintained.
Recognize procedural issues impacting quality and implement corrective actions promptly.

Qualifications:

Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Histotech.
Hold and maintain HT or HTL certification through ASCP.
Demonstrate proficiency in tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniques.
Exhibit attention to detail and strong laboratory organizational skills.
Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and resolve technical issues.
