Registered Nurse – Acute ICU/CCU | Full-Time 12-Hour Shifts

Compensation
Base Rate: $48.82 – $69.09 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – ICU/CCU to provide high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill patients. The RN will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, critical care interventions, care planning, patient and family education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and responding to emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care based on individual clinical needs.
• Identify changes in patients' clinical conditions and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide comprehensive direct patient care to critically ill patients.
• Administer medications, including IV medications, according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Establish and maintain IV access and lines.
• Monitor patient responses to treatment and document progress toward established goals.
• Complete admission, transfer, and discharge documentation.
• Review physician orders and seek clarification when orders are unclear or inappropriate.
• Interpret clinical data and promptly notify physicians of significant changes in patient condition.
• Assess and coordinate pain management.
• Perform phlebotomy duties as required.
• Transport patients safely when necessary.
• Provide patient and family education and support discharge planning.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate relevant patient information during shift reports.
• Apply infection-control and patient-safety principles.
• Assist with orientation and provide clinical supervision to CNAs, ward clerks, and other ancillary staff.
• Monitor patients' nutritional status and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
• Respond appropriately to emergency and crisis situations, including hospital codes and disaster situations.
• Participate in Quality Assurance/Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in nursing committees, unit meetings, continuing education, and mandatory in-service programs.
• Maintain current knowledge of trends and practices relevant to critical care nursing.
• Relieve the Nurse Manager/Clinical Director when required.
• Ensure emergency equipment and monitoring devices are available and functioning properly.
• Verify that ventilator and monitoring equipment alarms are appropriately set.
• Report malfunctioning equipment and take appropriate action to ensure patient safety.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, infection-control requirements, and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Current New Jersey RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of Critical Care/Intensive Care experience required
• ICU/CCU experience preferred
• CCRN certification preferred
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• IV Therapy Certification required
• Successful completion of the in-house Intensive Care Orientation Program required
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Candidates enrolled in an accredited BSN program may be considered at the time of hire, with the expectation that the degree will be completed within three years of hire.

The certification differential is subject to maintaining and renewing the applicable certification.
