About the Position

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00-07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in a hospital setting License: Active nursing license in good standing (with compact if indicated) Certifications: BLS required, ACLS required, current NIH certification (must be certified annually) Must-Have: 2 years ICU experience Description: 2 years of experience in a hospital setting is required. Must have a valid nursing license. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. Current NIH certification must be maintained annually. The team consists of Clinical Nurse Coordinators, RNs, PCTs, and Nurse Externs. Patient ratios are 2:1 or 3:1. Unit equipment includes Philips Telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, vents, and glucometers. Documentation is completed using a specified system. Scheduling requires every other weekend and three 12-hour shifts. Floating to other departments may occur. Patient experience requirements include at least 2 years of ICU experience. Advanced skills preferred include chest tube management, NG tube management, wound vac care, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central line management, blood transfusion administration, and ventilator management. Procedures performed on the unit include telemetry monitoring, physician-led paracentesis, BiPAP, and therapeutic phlebotomy. Team members are recognized bi-weekly for exceptional teamwork and patient care. The unit promotes excellent interdisciplinary communication and collaboration among providers. There are opportunities for staff recognition and involvement in celebrations. Group communication is facilitated for information sharing and team support. The unit is supported by a dedicated director, manager, and clinical educator. Travelers often extend their contracts due to a positive team environment and support.
