Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT)The Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT) is responsible for performing the routine test on blood, tissues, and other body specimens, as well as providing physicians with quality results using a variety of clinical laboratory equipment. The Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT) must have a total understanding of patient safety and laboratory techniques necessary to guarantee complete patient safety and anonymity.Essential Functions:Performs analytical tests on biological specimens, in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory proceduresDetermines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/ unusual resultsRecognizes factors that affect measurements and results by taking the appropriate action according to protocolsPerforms quality control for all testing and meets established ranges before patient results are releasedMaintains a safe and efficient work environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, monitoring temperatures following hospital policies, and troubleshoots laboratory equipmentOther duties as assignedEducation:Must have one of the following: Associates of Science in Medical Lab TechnologyCompleted 60 semester hours (including six hours of chemistry and six of biology) of academic credit from a college or university accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency and have completed a Medical Lab Technician ProgramCompleted a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the past ten yearsCertifications:For BSMH: MLT Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)For RSFH (as of 3/27/25) - if registry eligible, must achieve certification within 12 months from hire date.Experience:Three years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory setting (required)Skills & Abilities:Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-pasted environmentEngage with staff and patients in a professional mannerRoper St. Francis Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer.As a Roper St. Francis Healthcare teammate, you're part of a Mission that matters.
