They are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Agronomist to join their team in \*\*Washington, D.C., US\*\*. This critical role will focus on developing and implementing cutting-edge agronomic practices, with a strong emphasis on sustainable farming methods, research, and client advisory services. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of soil science, crop management, and environmental stewardship.Key Responsibilities: Develop and oversee research programs focused on crop yield optimization, soil health, and sustainable farming techniques. Provide expert agronomic advice and consulting services to farmers, agricultural businesses, and stakeholders. Analyze soil, water, and crop data to make informed recommendations on fertilization, irrigation, pest management, and crop rotation. Implement and monitor best practices in integrated pest management (IPM) and precision agriculture. Evaluate the effectiveness of new agricultural technologies and crop varieties. Develop strategies for enhancing biodiversity and reducing the environmental impact of agricultural operations. Conduct field trials and experiments, collecting and analyzing data to support findings. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and educational materials for various audiences. Stay current with advancements in agronomy, agricultural science, and sustainable land management. Collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, and industry partners. Mentor junior agronomists and contribute to team development. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in agronomy, with a focus on sustainable agriculture and research. Proven expertise in crop physiology, soil fertility, plant pathology, and entomology. Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data analysis tools. Strong understanding of environmental science and sustainable land management practices. Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with experience in technical reporting and client advisory. Ability to work independently and lead complex projects. Strong project management skills. Passion for advancing sustainable agriculture and food security.
