As a Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical, you will lead the design and delivery of high-performing building systems while mentoring the next generation of engineers. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, guiding projects through design and construction while ensuring quality, performance, and client satisfaction.This role can be onsite or hybrid out of our Milwaukee or Mequon offices.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & DesignLead the design and implementation of HVAC and/or plumbing systems for complex building projectsPerform and review advanced engineering calculations, system layouts, and specificationsDevelop construction documents, technical reports, and engineering studiesProvide technical oversight and QA/QC review of deliverablesProject ExecutionLead planning and execution of complex project components with a high degree of autonomyCoordinate across disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient system designsManage scope, schedule, and budget for assigned tasks or project phasesIdentify risks and proactively develop solutions to maintain project performanceClient & Stakeholder EngagementServe as a technical leader in client meetings and design discussionsCommunicate complex engineering concepts clearly to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agenciesSupport proposal development and business development effortsBuild and maintain strong client relationshipsConstruction & Field SupportProvide oversight during construction, including site visits and field investigationsResolve complex field issues in real time and support contractors and field staffEnsure compliance with contract documents and design intentMentorship & Team DevelopmentMentor and train junior and mid-level engineers and designersProvide technical guidance, coaching, and quality reviewsContribute to team development and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

EducationBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited programExperience10+ years of relevant engineering experience (8+ years with a master’s degree)LicensureProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredSkillsExpertise in HVAC and/or plumbing system design for building projectsAdvanced knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and industry standardsStrong proficiency in Revit and other engineering modeling toolsExcellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skillsProven ability to lead complex projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teamsStrong understanding of project financials, budgeting, and schedulingWhy MSAAt MSA, our people are our greatest asset.
