Heavy Duty Mechanic - $2,000 Sign On Bonus - Full Time - Days Kerry Brothers Truck Repair Detroit, Michigan, United States Overview Kerry Brothers Truck Repair is a fast‑growing, family‑owned company that services fleets across Michigan with heavy‑duty truck and trailer repair, refrigerated unit maintenance, tire services, fabrication & welding, parts sales, and road service. We offer a $2,000 sign‑on bonus to qualified mechanics who have at least four years of heavy‑duty experience and will obtain three State of MI certifications within 90 days of hire. Responsibilities Perform thorough inspections and diagnostic tests on heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs. Repair and maintain engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic components. Replace or repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Conduct routine preventive maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, fluid checks, and servicing of hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; use diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and schematics. Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations; follow manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and hours worked. Collaborate with mechanics, supervisors, and parts personnel to coordinate assignments; communicate with supervisors, customers, and stakeholders about repair status. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical training in heavy‑duty mechanics preferred. Minimum of four years’ experience as a heavy‑duty mechanic. Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment. Familiarity with a wide range of tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices used in the automotive/heavy‑duty repair industry. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
