Public Safety Officer - Security

Public Safety Officers are essential to maintaining security and supporting the mission of MD Anderson Cancer Center. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of relevant work experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment under pressure, and a commitment to public safety. Minimum $18.00 — Midpoint $20.54 — Maximum $23.08 per hour based on a 40-hour work week. This is a full-time position with rotating shifts that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Responsibilities Provide information, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff Patrol campus by vehicle and on foot to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards Enforce institutional and parking regulations; issue permits and citations as needed Serve as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Clery Act Respond to emergencies and maintain calm, professional judgment under pressure Support institutional policies and ensure a safe environment for all individuals on campus EDUCATION Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent WORK EXPERIENCE Required: 1 year Relevant work experience. Preferred: Customer interaction role. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Required: TDL – Texas Drivers License Valid and current Texas driver’s license with a minimum of three year’s history of verifiable driving history. With less than three years of driving history, but with a minimum of one year of driving history, a waiver may be requested. Upon Hire Preferred: IAHSS – Certification As A Security Officer One or more levels of certification (Certified Healthcare Security Officer, Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer, or Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor) from the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety Upon Hire OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
